I started out 15 years ago as an administrative assistant that just happened to know VBA (I learned it for fun). I then started using MS Excel and MS Access to create complete reports and dashboards using VBA. Then I taught myself SQL. I worked as a Reporting Analyst by day, but started freelancing at night. I worked with clients all over the world and got a crashed course in learning new software and quickly becoming a subject matter on data and industries that I'd never worked with before. I loved every minute of it and finally decided to start doing it full time. I care deeply about my clients, their businesses and business processes, and how their data is cared for and used to their advantage in a perfect end to end solution. From the start-up with a couple hundred client contacts in an Excel spreadsheet, to the mid-size company using a custom MS Access solution, to the Enterprise Level company with petabytes of data seeking a big box solution, I have done data analyst and database creation and management for both. Clients hire me to act like Henny Penny during their initial data discussions. I’m the one the yells “the sky is falling” when I see something that I know will cause data issues down the road. I spend hours learning their business and business process, and well as their data. I sit in on discussions with the software companies and ask the hard questions to ensure that the wool is NOT being pulled over my clients eyes to get them to buy a software that won’t fit their business needs, or that will require significant add-ons in order to do so and quickly cease to be within their budget. I set up databases and conduct the data ingestion so that implementation runs smoothly, and they can deploy faster and for less cost.
