The MeasureMatch professional services marketplace is, believe it or not, still very much an early stage startup.
We started software development in the second half of 2016 and formally launched in early 2018.
Clients back then were asked to submit project briefs with budgets greater than $/£/€ 500.
Around a year later, in 2019, we lifted the project budget minimum to 1k.
And then, in mid 2021, the budget minimum went a notch higher to 3k.
The decision to require a larger minimum commitment was fundamentally down to operational inefficiencies on our side - we were still really early in the development of the platform and the team serving customers was small (we're still a super lean outfit 😊).
Now, despite 2021 being our best year, we found - when looking back at all contracts since inception - that more than 50% of our most valuable customers started with initial project budgets under 3k.
That was an eye-opener!
For startups to large enterprises, MeasureMatch is the marketplace platform connecting business leaders with amazing consulting and professional services partners.
So, we decided to reintroduce the 1k minimum budget requirement, which went into effect this week.
This means a couple of things:
More isn't always better, but the platform and the team here are ready for the growth and dynamism!
We're a lot better and faster when it comes to screening clients, their requirements, budget access/ownership and more.
We also have incredibly useful [homegrown and 3rd party] tools at our fingertips to serve and support each engagement every step of the way.
The growth in projects with budgets falling in the 1-3k range won't be for all of the service providers in our network, but we're confident many of these new clients will prove to be excellent, longer term and high-value relationships.
We're excited to serve and support them all.
We're making big inroads to introduce new and advanced matching between clients and service providers.
For example, we'll add matching at the point of submitting a pitch for a project. We'll take into account several variables to ensure clients only receive the best possible pitches from the best possible pros.
That said, we'll also introduce flexibility because, for example, service provider profiles are rarely populated with all relevant skills, services, etc.
More on matching coming soon!

All feedback, ideas and questions are welcomed.
Thank you!
