Full disclosure: We're fully aware that there's a fine line between taking advantage of a grim situation and genuinely trying to be helpful. I'm hoping you'll appreciate our effort.
We're trying a few things to help the agencies, consultancies and solopreneurs in our service provider network, most of which are small to mid-sized, during this COVID-19 crisis.
Below is a copy of the email message I sent to them today.
These are exceptional times. We’re already seeing signs that some of you may find your project and revenue pipelines materially shrink over the coming weeks [and perhaps months], retainers may be cancelled or finding new business will take longer than normal.
So, we’re going to try to be helpful.
Effective immediately all new service contracts will be priced at 7.5% of gross contract value vs the standard 15% fee.
Clients will still only pay the proposal/contract value (the MeasureMatch platform doesn’t mark up).
In addition to the price break, we’re also working hard to incentivize the technology vendors that are participating in the marketplace via Partner Hubs. We’re encouraging them to invite their channel partners to participate.
This may seem counter-productive, but many of them are - well, they are you, your organizations...or can be you. This means that all Expert account holders that add *new "vendor verified" status badges to their profiles (by applying to Partner Hubs) will also be eligible for an incremental 2.5% fee reduction, bringing the contract fee down to 5%. Simply visit Partner Hubs in your account and apply to get vendor verified (please do so judiciously and in line with your skills and/or if you have an existing channel partner relationship).
*from today onward
Additionally, all service providers invited by technology vendors (through their MeasureMatch Technology Vendor accounts) will also enjoy a further 2.5% fee reduction. If your technology vendor partners aren’t already participating in the MeasureMatch marketplace via Partner Hubs, encourage them to sign up today (it’s free).
Additionally, while they can and should direct services revenue opportunities directly to each of you, we’re making a plea to our technology vendor community to encourage their customers to buy services via MeasureMatch.
And, lastly, because technology vendor accounts come with “client” account functionality (i.e. they can buy services, too), we’re encouraging them to consider using MeasureMatch to augment their solutions engineering teams with service pros booked through the platform.
Of course, we're also reaching out to all MeasureMatch clients to encourage them to come back into the platform to buy services.
For now, please take a moment to update your MeasureMatch account profile, add one or more Service Packages and visit Partner Hubs to see if there are any technology vendors with which you'd like to form a channel partnership (they will be grateful to hear from you).
That’s what we’ve come up with. Let me know what you think. We’ve no doubt missed something, so your ideas are welcomed and encouraged.
We’re all in this together.
Here’s wishing you well. Please get in touch for anything and at any time.
On behalf of the team, thank you!

Soon my prayers were answered and a contact from Inspiring Interns , with whom I had previously registered, got in touch with me about a paid internship at MeasureMatch...
The pitch and dream of “Software as a Service” (aka SaaS) and self-service software systems are long dead.
